So, i'm completely confused roughly speaking the birth control shot!?

how long does it REALLY take to be in full effect?
some websites utter within 24 hours it starts to work right away.
while others say a week, or even 14 days.

can someone please dispense me the REAL answer??

Answers:    It depends on what time you start it.
If you start the first day of your period, in 24 hours, you are protected. If you start at a kinda random time of the month, you should wait one full month to enjoy unprotected sex..
I don't remember, but that shot is evil. It makes 1 out of 10 women have period all the time and makes conceiving tremendously difficult. When I took it I'm pretty sure it was 14 days. I don't recommend it at all. The side effects are dismal and it can cause permanent sabotage to your reproductive system. I had a period for 3 months straight and so did several other populace I know. You need to use another form of protection (condom) for a week. I had a HORRIBLE time on it. Would cry at the drop of a head covering, become so frustrated with the smallest things treat my husband alike crap. I think if I have to put up with it any longer I would have admit myself to the local mental hospital..
The real answer would need to be given by a doctor depends on the brand and strand.
