I had my first today, with the pap smear and everything. My mom be in there beside me, and so was a nurse, assisting the dr. I thought it was the most mortified experience ever. I just want to know if this sounds right. Dr. was greatly nice and appropriate I would say. I am just wondering why, previously he even touched my vagina he touched and moved his finger down my inner thigh (he did say he will do that as he talked me through the complete exam). Is it normal for him to do that? I am guessing he was not trying to do something innapropriate especially since my mom and a nurse be in the room. Do your drs. do this?

Answers:    He was newly trying to make you feel comfortable, esp since it be your first time. If you would prefer him not to do that, just ask him nicely to not do it, that it make you uncomfortable. BTW, that is why they own a nurse in the room.the doctor will not do anything inappropriate, esp beside your mom there, too. Don't worry, over time, you will become more used to it. =) .

Yes, that's probably average. He doesn't want to just "go for it" and startle you. Besides, your mom be there, I'm sure he didn't do anything inappropriate. Not too sure..
