Is the dilation of cervix causing the cramping? Right now I am 39 wks preg. and 3cm dilated but no discomfort whatsoever. I am wondering when I have my period how much i dilate? B/c i sure grasp excruciating cramping. But nothing now (at lowest possible not yet)

Answers:    I think it barely open. Just a tiny tiny bit to let them blood out. Not enough to even count. When I get my IUD put in, which is pretty small, I was on my time of year and it hurt like hell. If it was open out just 1/2 a centimeter then I woudln't hold even felt it. .

Not even an inch or 1/2 just plenty to let out the flow. For childbirth you must dilate 10cm
