First off, the given name of that "private area doctor" is called a gynecologist (I've be called much more unusual names!). When you own your first exam, if your hymen is intact, the doctor can absolutely examine you without tear the tissue. The hymen is crescent shaped tissue at the base of the vagina. You can tear the hymen within other ways, from bike riding to horseback riding and until you have sexual intercourse, you are considered a virgin - despite the condition of your hymen. You can also see a gynecologist prior to turning 18, and I'd recommend it if you become sexually active.

Virginity to people mean a multiple of things, so it really depends. Personally *I* believe that you own your virginity until you have vaginal sex with a guy, even if you've used tampons back or had other forms of sex beside vaginal..etc. Your "cherry" could break but that does not mean you aren't a virgin anyone.
