Color on ovarian ultrasound?
Answers: The color you see on an ultrasound is blood flow. This is a color Doppler point on ultrasound machines. This shows blood vessels. The blood arteries will appear as shades of blues and the blood veins will show as shades of red, or vise versa, depending on the machine's settings.
"Doppler ultrasound is a special ultrasound technique that evaluates blood as it flows through a blood vessel, including the body's core arteries and veins in the belly, arms, legs and neck. There are three types of Doppler ultrasound:
Color Doppler uses a computer to convert Doppler measurements into an array of colors to visualize the speed and direction of blood flow through a blood vessel."

"Color Doppler Imaging may be used during a pelvic ultrasound exam to assess blood flow in pelvic organs and structures."

So, only seeing the colors, with no other additional information (which as a forgiving, you wouldn't have) tells you nothing more than your ovaries own a blood supply...and they should. The radiologist will need to interpert these images to inform you if the blood flow is normal or not.
