Has anyone ever have a colposcopy?

I just found out that I want to have one done and I must say-so I am very worried. I had an atypical pap smear 3 years ago, the one last year be normal, and this year it is unusual again. I didn't go for the colposcopy the first time because I be too scared.

What exactly can this procedure share the doctor besides the possibility of cancer? Or is this strictly a test for cancer?

I read between the lines that sometimes women experience cramping and spotting. Are there any other problems I should be aware of?

Answers:    I freshly had this done surrounded by December. It's quick and you will experience some spasm. In my case, the doctor looked at my cervix notice a lesion and cut a little piece of it past its sell-by date to be sent to the lab and analyzed. I then have to have a cervical conization which be an outpatient procedure because they found out I did have some phenomenal cells that have to be removed. It is in your best interest to own this done because there is something going on near you. It may not necessarily be bad or urgent at the current time but minus treatment or maybe removal you immensely well could enjoy cancer in a few years. I did enjoy cramps but they only last a few days and yes, I bled for about 5 days but it be very pale. It is not strictly a test for cancer. Most imagined if they think you enjoy cancer they will remove it and then biopsy that factor to see if it is indeed cancer. My best advice is only to get the orb rolling and get the procedure done.
Practically during a colposcopy, the doctor can see the cervix, and see if in that any abnormalities, and get out some simple tests to check for cell abnormality, and he may take some biopsies. In common it is done to look for cancerous lesions, but also problems which are pre-cancerous, and that if untreated they might organize to a cancer in the adjectives. Therefore it is very momentous that you follow it up, because you might have a cervical lesion which is pre-cancerous, and you can slickly manage it presently. If you do not take safekeeping of it things can get opening more serious.

There might be some pain during the procedure, and could see some bleeding after, might be particularly dark within colour. Another complication is infection.
