well, you recognize pms so that's partly the battle...try breathin or keepin your mouth shut. really. no offense. i own the same problem. i drink to relax and not tolerate stupid sh!t bother me. not a great answer, but it works for me.Pasta and anything beside carbs in it is courteous when it comes to mood swings because it elevates your serotonin level but stay away from chocolate that's a temporary mood relaxer. Liek everyone else above me said, breathe slowly and relax. There really is no technique to settle down down. Do whatever make you feel sunny. Exercise, take a tramp, listen to some music. Do anything to take your mind bad of your problems. I get angry efficiently too, not only during my period. I find listening to music and of late being by myself for a while comforting.
